Nastassia Takvorian

Artist in residency

Residency

AXENÉO7 welcomes artist Nastassia Takvorian (Nantes, France) for a research and creation residency from May first to July 3, 2024, as part of a partnership resulting from a cross-residencies agreement concluded between the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) and le Lieu Unique (Nantes, France).

Nastassia Takvorian will present her work with performances presented on the occasion of Pique, organized by Debaser, on July 8, 2024, on July 3rd for our big Summer opening, and on July 22nd, il collaboration with the Sentier culturel of the city of Gatineau.

How strange it is to participate in an international residency. Being 5714km away from our everyday life, yet to create in the exact same way. Does a displaced being have the same things to say? When confronted with different prisms than the one they know, do they make them their own in order to incorporate them into their artistic practice? If so, how?

Having the time to dedicate yourself entirely to an artistic project is rare. The fact to do it internationally even more. What will be this experience, and what will come out of it?

Advice for a teenager: In order to understand someone else and feel at ease with them, you have to tell yourself that they didn't choose to be on earth, and that they do everything they can to find a reason to stay alive. The moment you understand the story that they made inside their head to stay alive, it becomes easier to understand them.
