Reconnaître le terrain — 19 inflexions au terrain vague
In the urban network, the vacant lot takes on a paradoxical characteristic: it is both emptiness and a sign. It is a non-site, excluded form urban functionality, while at the same time it is a sign of disturbance, a rupture or tear. In this state it becomes available for reflective or playful creativity to be installed temporarily, later to be returned to its initial condition of emptiness or void, where anything can occur. Now, it is with great pleasure that the artist-run centre AXENÉO7 is publishing this work which is a witness to the interventions undertaken and to the resulting reflections – art momentarily filling the void of urban melancholy yearning. – Excerpt from the preface by Jean-Pierre Latour, artistic director
