As part of the exhibition L'oeuvre au noir, l'oeuvre au blanc, l'oeuvre au rouge presented at AXENÉO7 in 2004, Richard Gagnier, art restorer at the National Gallery of Canada, is invited to produce a critical and analytical commentary on the practice of Miguel-Angel Berlanga. "The work of Miguel-Angel Berlanga is marked by the constant search for the essential, the quest for knowledge that will lead him to a clearer grasp of the buddhist notion of emptiness, a notion that refers back to ourselves as being indistinct, finally in harmony with the world and participating in it." — Richard Gagnier
