Makiko Furuichi will present the results of her residency as a site-specific installation in the studio space of AXENÉO7’s residence. L'Âge de Raisin, June 19 - July 13, 2019, and during an artist talk on July 10, 2019, at 7 p.m. in the salon des membres at La Filature, this first of a series of conferences presented in collaboration with the DAÏMÔN — production centre.
AXENÉO7 welcomes artist Makiko Furuichi (Nantes, France) for a research and creation residency from April 29 to July 13, 2019, as part of a partnership resulting from a cross-residencies agreement concluded between the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) and Le Lieu unique located in Nantes (France).
Born in Kanazawa, Japan, artist Makiko Furuichi works and lives in Nantes, France. Known for her immersive and contemplative work in installation which she often executes in watercolor. Makiko holds a degree of Diplôme national supérieur d’expression plastique from l’École Supérieure des beaux-arts de Nantes (2011) as well, as a degree in painting from Kanazawa College of Art, Japan (2009). She has received several awards, amongst them the Arts Visuels de la Ville de Nantes (2018). In the past years, her work has been part of more than thirty group exhibitions across Belgium, Canada, South Korea, France and Japan. She presented multiple solo exhibitions in Bordeaux, Carquefou, Nantes, Paris and Tokyo. Makiko and her work have been part of several collective and personal publications. Makiko is currently in residency at artist-run center AXENÉO7 in Gatineau in the context of a research and creation residency program.
