Following on from Community Month and Salon #5 - Dissonances productives, initiatives that showcased artists, sometimes for a first time, through new or renewed collaborations with partners such as Théâtre du Trillium, Actoral, Culture pour Tous, the CÉGEP de l'Outaouais, Bibliothèques de Gatineau, the Ottawa Design Club, and the École des arts et des cultures de l'université du Québec en Outaouais and its student association, AXENÉO7 is proud to unveil its winter programming, running from January to March 2025.
While the last season focused on the power of being together, this new season is built around approaches that are just as essential to the purpose of artist-run centres as they are to the centre's values.
As we have learned at AXENÉO7, specifically through the Autorésidences program (2020), but also in the light of recent mobilisations of artists and cultural workers that only self-determination allows us to continue to think, experiment, create and come together.
Whether it's a question of multiple points of view, blind spots revealed, or even initiatives that are part of an assertive DIY expression, it's in this spirit that we invite you to join us throughout this season to discover the singular proposals of artists who have chosen to take matter in their own hands.
To kick off this season and to launch our programming of activities both inside and outside our spaces, AXENÉO7 is delighted to invite you on January 24 to the opening of the major exhibition Envers la Tyrannie du Réel : Matérialité et Exubérance Camp en Vidéo-Performance / We Made This Mostly at Home with Stuff We Already Had in Our Apartment, curated by Chloë Lum and Yannick Desranleau (Autorésidences 2020) and bringing together nearly twenty artists.
