Prémices

It supports emerging artists and curators by offering a first solo exhibition or first curatorial project at the centre, along with support from the team and mentorship from invited artists and arts professionals. By foregrounding practices that seek to grow through exhibition-making, Prémices serves as a stepping stone and contributes to the growth and visibility of the local arts community.

CONDITIONS :

The Prémices program is open to artists, emerging curators, or individuals with a project whose practice is still in development and who wish to present their first solo exhibition or curatorial project at AXENÉO7.

​​Applicants must be based in the Outaouais or the Ottawa region, or must have left one of these regions less than three years prior to the application deadline. This requirement is intended to support practices rooted in the local community, while taking into account recent circumstances such as relocation, training, or career transitions.

Proposals must demonstrate a commitment to engaging with the exhibition format, whether through artistic research, curatorial practice, an installation, a spatialization, a work-in-progress, or any other form of presentation suited to the centre’s spaces.

REMUNERATION :

Participants invited to take part in the Prémices program will receive remuneration for their participation. This will be determined in accordance with the rates recommended by RAAV and CARFAC, as well as the centre’s remuneration policies.

Depending on the scope of the project, compensation may include an exhibition fee, a curatorial fee, a presentation fee, or a fee for public engagement, outreach, or educational activities related to the project.

The expenses related to the production of the proposal and the exhibition may also be discussed with the selected artists, depending on available resources and the proposed framework of implementation of the project.
