La pomme par laquelle je bois

La pomme par laquelle je bois is an installation-performance project initiated by Maude Arès in 2023. A multitude of object fragments whose functions have been lost over time, or which successive accidents have irrevocably transformed, lie scattered across a large table around which a gathering turns its attention. Above it, a large mobile branches into wide hoops from which other fragments hang, chosen for their potential to coalesce and form new assemblages, for the quality of the relationships they can activate.

This superstructure stirs gently, then moves with purpose, first setting in motion an encounter between what falls and what rises. Gradually, the objects lose their fixity and are drawn into this circulation, shaped by uneven frictions, a play of balance and weight, forms of resistance or surrender to the current. Little by little, as the actors become recognizable, a dramaturgical thread unfolds, augmented by thin layers of additional sound that act as agents of fiction, confounding any attempt at identification.

This sound piece is an archive of one of these encounters, recorded in February 2026 at AXENÉO7 in Gatineau.
