Radio Vestige is a mobile radio station that collects and broadcasts the intimate connections between people and radio. For this participatory installation, the public can call 819.770.8241 and leave a message recounting a memorable experience related to the radio. In collaboration with the collective Jean Couteau, this edition of Radio Vestige subverts a phone booth installed at La Filature, where the public can listen in to this living archive of human-radio relationships. In addition, Each week, as part of Radio Hull, these stories will be rebroadcast on the air, along with other audio messages collected during previous editions of Radio Vestige.

Martín Rodríguez is a Montreal-based transmission and sound artist situating his work between radio, migration, and atonement. Rooted in his Xicanx upbringing along the Arizona–Mexico border, his practice employs performance, intervention, and installation to engage aural histories across Mexico, the United States, and Canada. His recent work extends into migrant and agricultural contexts, where sound, transmission, and community engagement foreground resilience, interdependence, and collective listening. Informed by the Xicanx methodology of rasquachismo, Rodríguez reconfigures materials through pragmatic acts of remaking shaped by adaptation and scarcity. His work has been presented nationally and internationally.

Jean Couteau is an artist collective that takes the form of a fictional character. Our projects blend performance, music, installation, and social practice. Some are public, others secret, and some are downright illegal. The story of Jean Couteau has its roots in a colonial working-class role-playing game: an industrial town literally at the end of the road, anxiety, despair, and then the escape toward the city light
