Fait Maison
Artiste en Résidence
- Autorésidence
A long-time collaborator of AXENÉO7 — most notably during the 2021 edition of the PERF (ré)agir biennial — Fait Maison, now carried forward by Thomas Grondin and Anna Khimasia, continues its trajectory in a renewed form, marking its twentieth anniversary this year.
As part of its Autoresidency program, AXENÉO7 welcomes this spring Fait Maison — a defining presence within the artistic scenes of the Outaouais-Ottawa region, and the field of performance art. Through the organization of emblematic evenings bringing together artists and audiences, Fait Maison has offered, particularly during its most formative years of activity, collective experiences that are simultaneously sensitive, intimate, radical and resolutely experimental.

In residence through the Autoresidency program, Fait Maison embarks on a path focused on the transmission of its unique method and approach, gathering archives, collaborators, and communities around the development of a publication — thus opening the door to future iterations.

The Autoresidency programme is an artist residency initiative launched by AXENÉO7 in 2020 in response to the pandemic context. Initially conducted remotely, the program has since evolved to welcome independent projects and research engaged with contemporary issues in artistic creation. It fosters a fluid relationship with the centre while transcending geographic, cultural, and disciplinary boundaries. The Autoresidencies offer artists a space for open experimentation, allowing them to explore new forms and contexts of creation.
Fait Maison
What started as a performance lab in the domestic context of Thomas Grondin’s house in 2005, has grown into a collaborative working platform; Fait Maison has been bringing together artists for 20 years to experiment in performance, exchange ideas, and share their experiences with others.
