Lauranne Faubert-Guay
Artist in residence
- Residency
Lauranne Faubert-Guay's residency is realized in partnership with DAÏMÔN production center.
“ZAD (ponos III)” is a long-duration multidisciplinary performance combining dance, theater, ultra-marathon. This project is part of a series of works exploring the themes of asceticism, self-sufficiency and resilience.
How can the force that resides within us enable us to live better, with less? What is its potential for struggle and de-growth?
Equipped with their gear, sleeping bags and food supplies, three performers will make the AXENÉO7 artist-run center their survival camp for 72 consecutive hours. In the manner of activists who occupy ZADs “zones to defended” and invest their bodies and souls to ensure their protection, they will set to work to protect their bodies and their imaginations.
This project activates a “zone à défendre“: a radical, supportive and safe space where individuals can emancipate themselves through their cries, their laughter and their tenacity. Ecology, empowerment and radicalism are deliberately at the heart of this creation.
Lauranne (elle/she/they) is a transdisciplinary artist, trained in visual arts and sociology, and working in contemporary dance. Lauranne likes to think of her artistic approach as a praxis, a philosophy in movement.
Sensitive to the urgent need to change our way of being-in-the-world, notably by adopting a minimalist lifestyle, she is more specifically interested in the ascetic body and its capacity for self-sufficiency.
Her artistic work is a quest for empowerment, at the heart of which are notions of ecology and autonomy. It is distinguished by a gestural style that is both gentle and violent, at the crossroads of trial and emancipation, effort and satisfaction.
Since 2019, Lauranne has won the support of several arts institutions for her choreographic creations, which are presented in Montreal and the Outaouais region. Lauranne is also founder and director of Devenir(s) corps, an organization currently developing a residency and practice space for the performing arts in Montpellier, in the Outaouais region.
She is currently working the project “ZAD (ponos III)” through her collaborative residency between AXENÉO7 artist-run center and the Centre de production DAÏMÔN.
