Discussion dans la cour #3
Meet us at the courtyard of La Filature, from 5 to 7PM.
The Discussions dans la cour series is presented as part of the Public Art Summer Programming of AXENÉO7 artist-run centre.
Discussions will be conducted in French.
In parallel with the works Mirador by Josée Dubeau (Gatineau) and Carrousel by Mélanie Myers (Gatineau) in collaboration with the Sentier culturel of the City of Gatineau and, Anti Sculpture Angst Therapy by Lieven Meyer (Montreal), resulting from the Autorésidences, of the Public Art Summer Programming, AXENÉO7 artist-run centre offers the Discussions dans la cour series every Wednesday in July to liven up the courtyard of La Filature through discussions on public art.
Mélanie Myers lives and works in Gatineau. She has an MFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD, 2013) and a BA in art and design from Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO, 2008). Her practice touches on various areas of interest: landscape, reality, comfort and the middle class, which she approaches critically through drawing and installation. Her projects have been supported by the provincial and federal arts councils and shown in several galleries and centres across Canada, including Division Gallery (Toronto), Forest City Gallery (London), L'Écart (Rouyn-Noranda) and Gallery 17/18 (Ottawa). She has participated in residencies at Centre Bang (Chicoutimi) and Maison Scott-Fairview (Gatineau). Myers currently teaches drawing at UQO. In addition to her studio practice, she works on set design projects for the theatre.
